Ashot's Hotel

As no many tourist came to Stepanakert, many house owners waited at bus station to sell their rooms to potential travelers. That is how I met the owner Ashot. After we agreed the price of the room (about US$10 per head), he drove us to the house (or 15 minutes on foot). There are 2 small rooms with simple settings, both shared a common room, bathroom and small pantry. The location is along one of the main road and you have to walk about 20 minutes to the central plaza. The owner is very nice and he also drove us to get the visa as well as bus station when we left the city. On our first night of stay, once we arrived, he invited us to his family house and prepared a Karabakh BBQ dinner for us. We only paid for the cost of the food but he also shared some local wine with us. He is so funny and hospitable. Ashot only speaks very limited english. However, you can communicate with him by body language and his funny smiles makes my stay unforgettable. Highly recommended.
